Honeymoon - New Zealand

Let’s face it: planning a wedding can be hard, and is sure to be stressful. Yes, you are planning a celebration of your love and it should be fun and exciting, but sometimes the planning itself can drain away some of that love and excitement. That’s why you get to plan the honeymoon, too. Our recommendation? Any time you start to think eloping might be the way to go, just to free yourself of the wedding planning, take a break and work on planning your honeymoon, instead. It’s a different kind of planning altogether, and you are planning an event solely for the two of you—not the two of you and all your family and friends. The first step in planning a honeymoon is to pick your destination. This is the beginning of a series of blog posts where we will highlight 5 international honeymoon destinations. Today’s destination? New Zealand!
New Zealand has a wide variety of activities. From swimming or sunbathing on the beach, to river rafting, to hiking or fishing in the lakes, you will be able to find something for both of you to enjoy. There are day tours of the island’s active volcanoes, and resorts that offer all of the amenities. You might even get luck and get to see the flightless birds that are native to New Zealand—the kakpo and the kiwi. New Zealand is perfect for outdoorsy couples who are looking for both luxury and adventure.
Another easy way to relieve some of the stress of planning your wedding is to let someone help you! Call us here at The Little Church of the West–we would love to help make your wedding day your perfect day.

18 Things To Throw In Lieu Of Rice

18 Things To Throw In Lieu Of Rice

We’re all familiar with the rice throwing tradition at weddings. But let’s be real, that is kind of dangerous. What if some of that rice got in your eyes? That were surely ruin a beautiful day. Also, rice is very dangerous for birds to eat. Unless someone cleans it up after the wedding, birds are going to be the only creatures flocking toward the mess. Not only that, but it’s so cliche to throw rice. Been there, done that. It’s 2015; let’s spice it up a bit. Little Church of the West has compiled a list of new, creative things to throw instead of rice.

Butterflies - Gather a bunch of butterflies in all different colors for a truly fairy tale moment.

Rose petals - This is a simple, yet sweet alternative to rice that will also leave the happy couple smelling wonderful.

Kabuki streamers - It will look as though fireworks have gone off as the couple walks down the aisle. These are actually very easy to make!

Bubbles - The is a cheap and fun alternative to rice that will leave your guests having the time of their lives. They also make for amazing photos as well.

Confetti - Colorful confetti just screams “it’s a celebration!” For the classier couples, have the guests throw silver or gold shimmering confetti.

Horns - Not only are these a great way for guests to express their joy, but add a twist by having them blow confetti or rose petals out of them.

Hearts - You can get really creative with this. You can have guests throw the Valentine’s Day candy hearts or simple little paper hearts as a safer alternative.

Herbs - Guests can throw rosemary and thyme to create a wonderful smell as they see off the happy couple.

Lavender - This is another alternative to rice that can leave the bride and groom smelling great.

Flowers - If the bride isn’t a fan of roses, guests can throw any type of flower petal.

Rope streamers - Guests can wrap these around their hands then twirl them around in the air to show their happiness for the newlyweds.

Sprinkles - For the sweet-toothed couple, colorful sprinkles can make for a fun alternative to the boring, white rice.

Pom-poms - For the crafty bride, fuzzy pom-poms can make for a fun and easy to clean up alternative.

Cowbells - Hang a cowbell on the back of each guest’s’ seat, so when the couple makes their grand exit the guests can celebrate by ringing the bells.

Flags - If you aren’t a fan of the racket caused by the bells, guests could wave hand stamped flags that say “Congrats!”

Before you can decide the best option for your guests to throw, you have to book your wedding at a fabulous wedding chapel in Las Vegas. Little Church of the West offers many affordable wedding packages that can accommodate every bride. They even offer various venues for brides that want a more unique and creative wedding. Honeymoon Planning 101

Honeymoon Planning 101

When you hold your wedding ceremony at one of the beautiful Las Vegas wedding chapels, you are celebrating the joining of the bride and groom’s families. While this is a memorable experience for the couple, it’s the honeymoon that supplies the most enjoyment. The honeymoon is a relaxing getaway for the newlyweds to simply enjoy one another’s company. When planning your honeymoon, there’s a few things to keep in mind.

How much will you be paying?

We constantly talk about budgets in terms of wedding planning, but that’s because the costs can add up quickly if you aren’t carefully planning. The honeymoon is one of the more larger costs in wedding planning. It’s also unlikely going to be covered by either families. That means the price tag has to be covered out of your own pocket. First, you should find out if you or your hubby have any frequent flyer or hotel miles on a credit card. This can drastically reduce the cost of the flight. If you don’t already have a credit card that allows that, consider getting one to put all the wedding expenses on. This will rack up enough credit to give you some frequent flyer miles.

How long will you be staying?

You and your hubby will have to figure out how many vacation days are allotted from work. Keep in mind, you’ll probably have to take a day or two off prior to the wedding for any last minute wedding planning. Some brides will even take the whole week off leading up to the wedding. You’ll then have to decide when you want to leave for the honeymoon. Commonly, couples will leave the morning following the wedding. If you don’t have a lot of vacation days at work, simple do a weekend getaway and just take off the following Monday. You can always save up later on to take a real honeymoon for your first anniversary.

Where will you be going?

Both you and your man should write down a list of the top places you want to go. Write down about two or three options each and compare notes. Remember that a honeymoon is slightly different than a regular vacation. Perhaps, you’ve always wanted to go to Paris to see all the architecture and museums. Though Paris is a romantic city, sightseeing isn’t likely going to be on your agenda during the honeymoon. Most couples choose a warm place near the beach, so they can just relax and spend quality time together. Others enjoy the cold weather so they choose to stay in a cabin in the mountains.

Do you need a travel agent?

Sure, in today’s digital age, everyone will do the booking online. However, a travel agent can be extremely helpful. It’s fairly common that hotels will offer special deals for newlyweds. The travel agent will guide you to these places. Perhaps, they’ll even recommend a place you’ve never considered before. Travel agents are experts in all things regarding tourist season and weather. Wouldn’t you want to be sure you are taking your honeymoon to Cancun before spring breaks occur?

Before you can enjoy the honeymoon, you get to celebrate your love in one of the most fabulous Las Vegas wedding chapels. When deciding which chapel is right for you, consider Little Church of the West. They offer many wedding packages at different venues for a unique and unforgettable experience. Wedding Social Media Tips for Every Couple

Wedding Social Media Tips for Every Couple

Social media seems to be the center of today’s society. When a major event happens in our lives, we flock first to Facebook to inform the world. This is especially true for engagements and weddings. As great as it seems to brag about your future wedding and happiness, you’ll likely hurt some people’s feelings. Rather than blowing up your newsfeed with pictures and statuses, follow these tips to share your happiness responsibly.

Tell Friends and Family First

More often than not, couples update their relationship status to engaged and post a picture of the ring almost immediately after the proposal happens. Just hold off. First you should revel in the moment and enjoy the company of your soon-to-be husband. You should then call up your close friends and family. Seriously though, your best friend shouldn’t have to read about this big life moment on Facebook. When it comes time to update your status and inform all your social media friends, don’t post a picture of the ring. It’s actually extremely tacky. It looks as though you only care for the ring rather than the man who gave it to you.

Limit your Posts

Naturally, you aren’t inviting every single one of your Facebook friends to your wedding, so don’t bother everyone with posts about it. Consider creating a Facebook group including all your friends and family that you plan on inviting. Here you can share your ideas of the wedding and post a more in depth story about the proposal. Even though everyone in this group will be interested in your wedding, that doesn’t mean they’ll want to hear every little detail. So, try to limit your posts. To you, this is the most important day of your life. Your friends will be happy for you, but they don’t really care to know every detail. If you must share all your thoughts and feelings regarding your upcoming nuptials, start a wedding blog so other brides who care can follow.

Don’t Complain

Facebook seems to be the place for people to vent their feelings. We understand wedding planning can be stressful. From disagreements with your future mother-in-law, frustrating vendors or money struggles, you’ll have a lot of emotions. Don’t complain about it on social media, though. This will look unappealing to your guests and possibly diminish the joy of the event.

Now that you have your Internet use down to a minimum, it’s time to get down to the planning. When looking for the ideal Las Vegas Wedding Chapel for your ceremony, consider Little Church of the West. They offer numerous wedding packages at all different prices so even brides on a budget can have her perfect day. For more information about Las Vegas wedding chapels, contact 702.739.7971.
